| A good education is what every child deserves and is also a child’s fundamental right. It is in your power to give the precious gift of education to a child who would otherwise be deprived of it. Your generosity could enable a child to learn, to dream, to achieve, and to become a better human being. You can do this by sponsoring a child in Dr. Graham’s Homes at a cost of Rs.80,000 per annum.
The Extended Sponsorship scheme was established as a mechanism to provide supplementary support to children who wish to pursue further studies or vocational training. It is applicable only for those sponsored students who have completed their schooling from Dr. Graham’s Homes.
You need not have sponsored a child at school, to sponsor them at college or you need not have sponsored the same child at school and college. Or you may simultaneously sponsor a child at school and college.
This Sponsorship Scheme was initiated in 2003 and has been able to provide financial and psychological support to hundreds of children.
Most of the students go to colleges in Kolkata and remain there for the duration of their courses.
Dr. Graham’s Homes, located in Kalimpong in the Darjeeling hills, was founded in 1900 by Reverend Dr. John A. Graham, a Scottish missionary who wished to provide a refuge for abandoned and destitute Anglo-Indian children. During the 20th century, Dr. Graham’s Homes has developed and grown into a boarding and day school with an excellent record in the quality of its education and child care, and has benefitted children from all over India.
Each child receives a well-rounded education from the age of 3 up to Class XII. Children can choose from three streams – science, arts and commerce – when they reach Class X. Boarders live in Cottages on the school campus which is spread over 140 acres amidst beautiful green hills.
Over the years, a large number of sponsored children from under-privileged backgrounds have gone on to hold important positions in industry and government, thanks to the generosity of donors like you..
